Miss Kathleen, singer/dancer/actress has over 45 years of dance experience. She began dance training at the age of three, acting at the age of ten, and voice at twelve, performing locally with “Kids Today”.  She began singing and dancing professionally at the age of 16, performing two seasons in the Palace Show at Six Flags over Mid-America and later as one of “The Harvey Girls” at St. Louis Union Station. Miss Kathleen studied music, dance, and theater at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. In 1987, she received her Bachelor of Music Degree, double majoring in vocal performance and musical theater.  Some favorite SIUE credits include: Fiona in Brigadoon, Gretel/Student Director in Hansel and Gretel, Lucy in The Telephone, Rosamund in The Robber Bridegroom, Dance: In Concert, Usher/Nina in A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine. While continuing to sing with wedding bands, she also won 1st place in St. Louis NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Competitions in 1980, ’82, ’83, ’84, ’85, as well as 1st place in the 1985 Regional Competition. Miss Kathleen served as choreographer for Show Choirs at Mehlville High School, Edwardsville High School, and St. Louis University. She was a featured soloist in an audience with Pope John Paul II at the Vatican with The SIUE Concert Chorale during their 1985 European/Holy Land Tour. She has performed as soprano soloist for numerous cantatas as well as the Centennial Anniversary Concert of Our Lady of Sorrows in 2008.

Miss Kathleen sings annually with Caroling St. Louis, performing throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Along with her husband Bob, she led the worship ministry at Vineyard Christian Fellowship for 16 years. She has been featured on five worship CDs and has ministered through music and dance in Russia and Ukraine. She and her musical family currently lead worship at Southgate Church and Gateway House of Prayer, where she oversees auditions and training. In 2015, she appeared in the film “Red Flags 3” and danced in the music video “Pillar.” As time allows, Miss Kathleen performs in community theatre productions such as: Marian in The Music Man (Family Musical Theater), Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof (FMT), Nellie in South Pacific (SLCC- Meremec), singing/dancing chorus of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Nine to Five (Kirkwood Theater Guild), and Dr. Knef/Mrs. MacNeil in Radium Girls (KTG.)

Miss Kathleen has over 30 years of experience as a voice, drama, and dance teacher. Having joined the Motion Express family in 1992, Miss Kathleen is thrilled to still be teaching at Motion Express where she has had the opportunity to assist many wonderful instructors. She believes dance training provides numerous benefits beyond becoming excellent dancers. Dance builds strong bodies, self-esteem, confidence, teamwork, and an appreciation for the gift of movement. Miss Kathleen enjoys the opportunity to help students reach their goals, whether they desire a professional career in the performing arts or a recreational appreciation of movement. She is honored to share her love of dance with her students, believing joy and enthusiasm are contagious!
